ID verification
To list items for sale, sellers must complete identity verification through Stripe, our payment partner. ID documents are uploaded directly to Stripe and stored only by Stripe. Sailor's Corner never sees, stores, or has access to seller ID documents. We only receive a verification status (verified / not verified) from Stripe.
Who we are
Sailor's Corner is a neutral online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of sailing gear. We are not a party to any sale. We do not own, inspect, or take possession of the items listed, and we do not endorse any individual listing or seller.
Seller obligations
As a seller you must own the items you list or be authorised to sell them, describe them honestly, and complete each sale in good faith. Before publishing, you confirm that you own the item and have the right to sell it, and you accept responsibility for the listing. Sailor's Corner does not endorse listing decisions and is not responsible for disputes over ownership or the right to sell.
Provenance is the seller's claim
Any provenance, attribution, or history shown on a listing is the seller's own claim. Sailor's Corner does not independently guarantee that a piece was owned, worn, or raced by any particular sailor or team. Buyers should message the seller with any questions before purchasing.
Payments & escrow
Sailor's Corner charges a platform fee on each sale — currently 15% during our launch period, rising to 25% afterwards. The fee that applies to your sale is fixed at the time of purchase. Payments are processed by our payment provider and held in escrow: funds are not released to the seller at the moment of purchase. A payout is released to the seller three days after delivery is confirmed (in the app or by carrier tracking), or fourteen days after purchase if no delivery signal is received, whichever comes first.
Refunds & lost shipments
If an item is not delivered, is lost in transit, or arrives significantly not as described, the buyer is refunded in full, including shipping, from the funds held in escrow before any payout is made to the seller. The seller bears the risk of shipping until delivery is confirmed, and tracked shipping is strongly encouraged.
Disputes
If something goes wrong with an order, buyers can open a dispute directly in the app. Opening a dispute pauses any payout to the seller while we review it. We aim to respond to disputes within five business days, and we may ask for photos or other information to help us reach a fair outcome.
Prohibited items
You may not list counterfeit goods, stolen items, unsafe or recalled equipment, or anything you do not have the right to sell. Listings that misrepresent an item or its provenance are also prohibited.
Removing listings & suspending accounts
We may remove any listing and suspend or close any account at our discretion, including where we believe these terms have been broken or a listing may be unlawful or misleading.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sailor's Corner is not liable for the acts of buyers or sellers, the accuracy of listings, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our role is limited to providing the marketplace and facilitating payment.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of France, and the French courts have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
